【摘要】:Thistestmethodisastandardprocedurefordeterminingstructuralperformanceunderuniformstaticairpressuredifference.Thistypicallyisintendedtorepresenttheeffectsofawindloadonexteriorbuildingsurfaceelements.Theactualloadingonbuildingsurfacesisquitecomplex,varyingwithwinddirection,time,heightaboveground,buildingshape,terrain,surroundingstructures,andotherfactors.Theresistanceofmanywindows,curtainwalls,anddoorassembliestowindloadingisalsocomplexanddependsonthecompletehistoryofload,magnitude,duration,andrepetition.ThesefactorsarediscussedinASCE7andintheliterature(1-8).DesignwindvelocitiesareselectedforparticulargeographiclocationsandprobabilitiesofoccurrencebasedondatafromwindvelocitymapssuchasareprovidedinASCE7.Thesewindvelocitiesaretranslatedintouniformstaticairpressuredifferencesanddurationsactinginwardandoutward.Complexitiesofwindpressures,asrelatedtobuildingdesign,windintensityversusduration,frequencyofoccurrence,andotherfactorsmustbeconsidered.Superimposedonsustainedwindsaregustingwindswhich,forshortperiodsoftimefromafractionofasecondtoafewseconds,arecapableofmovingatconsiderablyhighervelocitiesthanthesustainedwinds.TheanalyticalproceduresinASCE7,windtunnelstudies,computersimulations,andmodelanalysesarehelpfulindeterminingtheappropriatedesignwindloadsonexteriorsurfaceelementsofbuildings.Generally,windloaddurationsobtainedfromASCE7are2to10sandaredependentuponthespecifictimereferenceemployedindeterminingthepressurecoefficients.Somematerialshavestrengthordeflectioncharacteristicsthataretimedependent.Therefore,thedurationoftheappliedtestloadmayhaveasignificantimpactontheperformanceofmaterialsusedinthetestspecimen.Themostcommonexamplesofmaterialswithtime-dependentresponsecharacteristicsthatareusedareglass,plastics,andcompositesthatemployplastics.Forthisreason,thestrengthofanassemblyistestedfortheactualtimedurationtowhichitwouldbeexposedtoasustainedoragustload,orboth,asdiscussedabove.Generally,U.S.practiceforwindloadtestinghasbeentorequireaminimumtestperiodof10sfortestloadsequaltothedesignwindloadandproofloadsequalto1.5timesthedesignwindload.Thusasafetyfactorisincorporatedinthetesting.WithtestloadsforwindhigherthanthosedeterminedbyASCE7oroflongertimedurationthan10s,thedesignermustconsiderwhatsafetyfactorsareappropriate.Fortestloadsthatrepresentdesignloadsotherthanwind,suchassnowload,considerationshallbegiventoestablishanappropriatetestperiodforbothdesignandproofloadtesting.Thisstandardisnotintendedtoaccountfortheeffectofwindbornedebrisorcyclicloads.ConsiderationofcyclicairpressuredifferentialsisaddressedinTestMethodE1233.ConsiderationofwindbornedebrisincombinationwithcyclicairpressuredifferentialrepresentingextremewindeventsisaddressedinTestMethodE1886andSpecificationE1996.Thistestmethodisnotintendedforuseinevaluatingthestructuraladequacyofglassforaparticularapplication.Whenthestructuralperformanceofglassistobeevaluated,theproceduredescribedinTestMethodE997orE998shallbeused.
